Flag of Midway, Kentucky: a white eight-point star where gold rays meet, over sky blue, gold and green

Midway, a city of about 1,700 people in Woodford County, adopted a new city flag on December 5, 2022. It was designed by Tom McCoy and dedicated to the public domain, so anyone can make or fly it without asking.

The flag has no seal and no lettering: flat colors and an eight-point star, simple enough to draw from memory.

What we still need to learn

  • How the design was chosen, and whether the public weighed in
  • What it took to get the city council to adopt it
  • How the flag has been used since
