About this flag

A gold band at the hoist carries the year 1780, when Jefferson County was formed. On the blue fly, the head of Thomas Jefferson, the county's namesake, sits in a white frame between gold wreaths, with a gold fleur-de-lis below.

The county flew it until it merged with the city of Louisville into one metro government in January 2003.
